  • CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE: Essential for receiving multicast packets, which enables automatic discovery of TV Boxes on your network.
MEDIA ACCESS PERMISSIONS
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO / READ_MEDIA_AUDIO: To access media files (photos, videos, music) stored on your device so you can select and cast them to your TV. On Android 13+, we use the more specific, privacy-focused media permissions.
  • READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED (Android 14+): Allows you to grant temporary, one-time access to specific photos/videos only, without providing access to your entire media library.
APP FUNCTIONALITY PERMISSIONS
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To show status notifications (e.g., "Casting to Living Room TV") and background playback controls.
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: To maintain a stable connection with your TV Box and control playback when the app is in the background.
